UNIT STUDIES
Teaching across subjects and across grade levels.
Unit studies are a wonderful way to incorporate different subjects into a single theme. Related work can include history, social studies, English, grammar, and science. Older students can delve deeper and do more reading, essays, and projects. Younger students can gain general knowledge, develop reading skills, and do related crafts.

Types:
There are 3 types of unit studies to choose from here at Learn In Time:

Literature based- This is the in depth study of a book which includes reading and understanding the actual story, then place that story in the stream of time. The literature based studies will take 6-8 weeks to complete. Students will study the time period of the book including inventions, scientific and medical discoveries, important people, life of the average person, their dress, music and entertainment, your family history, United States events, world events and if you are one of Jehovah's Witnesses, the history of us.
Music Based- These unit studies will take a song and dissect it's lyrics looking for information. Students will learn about the topic of the song, what kind of people wrote and preformed the song and in what time period the song was written. They will learn about the singer and song writer, what made the song significant, and dig deeper into the topic of the song. These can be as short as 2-3 days or stretched over the course of a week or two when incorporated into the daily homeschool routine.
Topic based- This is more of a traditional unit study that will take an animal(s), a place, or an event and look at it from different angles and how it relates to the student. These can be 1-2 weeks long and will have plenty of activities to reinforce knowledge and skills in younger students.
